Re: A Little Night Gardening

Probably preaching to the choir but anyway, a reminder:

If you are gardening at night in the warmer states, where there are
poisonous snakes, i.e. copperheads which hunt at night, I'd advise a
quality high output LED flashlight from Surefire. Here's a 500 lumen
variable output headlamp:

SureFire Maximus™
Rechargeable Variable-Output LED Headlamp

Other flashlight models I recommend are described here:

Perfectly good affordable models include:
G2X™ Pro Dual-Output LED
http://www.surefire.com/illumination/flashlights/g2x-pro.html
320.0 lumens Max Output
15.0 lumens Low Output
2.0 hours Tactical Runtime
1.25 inches Bezel Dia.
5.20 inches Length
$95.00
P2X Fury™ Dual-Output LED
http://www.surefire.com/illumination/flashlights/p2x-fury-dual-output.html
500.0 lumens Max Output
15.0 lumens Low Output
1.5 hours Tactical Runtime
1.37 inches Bezel Dia.
5.40 inches Length
$155.00
Surefire offers a nice set of rechargeable batteries (lithium phosphate
123A batteries with 10-year shelf life) with charger, affordable.

I am obsessed with snake risk in season when outside having encountered
nine since I moved to my farm; one very large one in my front yard last
summer, in a pile of brush. Copperheads respond to vibrations carried
through the ground so a heavy walking stick (persimmon is great wood for
this) would be useful, a very bright flashlight with extra batteries,
mandatory. Surefire offers a nice set of rechargeable batteries (lithium
phosphate 123A batteries with 10-year shelf life) with charger, affordable.
