Re: no more "mea culpas"?
I'm fine with GWL the way it is, too. The GWA Sustainability Committee
has a secret group, so only the members of the committee can be in it,
but not all of them are on FB. It isn't a primary mode of communication
for us (like GWL is), so that isn't a serious problem. Some members just
miss out on things. From the admin side, though, I have to keep checking
to see how many members have viewed the post. If it's important, I still
have to send an email.
I find GWL very helpful for hort issues, e.g., my recent request for tree
suggestions. In the past, I've gotten good answers on compost questions
as well as questions about Clivia. While the Business of Garden Writing
FB group sometimes has useful business information, threads there are
more frequently "hijacked" when one member uses someone's post to go off
on a tangent. While I've seen that happen here too, it's very infrequent.
I like that GWL posts come right to my inbox. I read or ignore them
depending how interesting they are to me. All of that being said, I have
noticed the dropoff in activity here this past year and wonder where
others are chatting to our peers. I know some of you belong to LinkdIn
groups, which might be better than FB, but you still have the extra steps
of signing in and then going to the group.
My 2 cents.
