In 2010 I published a colorfully illustrated handbook called "Citrus: How to Grow and Use Citrus Fruits, Flowers, and Foliage," by Monica Moran Brandies. It's available from Amazon.com as a paper book or as an ebook.

In 72 pages it tells about finding and growing citrus indoors and out, making and using citrus products such as lemon vinegar and orange oil, and cooking with citrus. Monica even uses the peels. There's a plant-by-plant directory suggesting available varieties of sweet oranges, blood oranges, sour oranges, mandarins, tangerines, and tangelos, grapefruit, pummelos, lemons, limes, kumquats, and more.
Florida has been plagued with the citrus greening disease. It does not kill the trees immediately but little by little, and also affects the taste of the fruit. There is no cure for it but resistant citrus varieties are being developed. I heard a piece about this on NPR yesterday.

All my references on the topic are decades old. Can anyone recommend an
excellent, up-to-date book on the best hybrids, growing, soil, etc.?
Personal experiences,  anecdotes, and advice also would be great.
