how do I get to it?

I've lost count of the number of times I've tried to log-in to amazon- I
had never done so before but they insisted I was a returning user. so I
went with that and said I had forgotten my password; upshot, I have my
"old" account "back" with a new password.
so now I can get on to amazon as a valued, returning  customer (never
having purchased anything on line in my entire life) but it will neither
recognize the link you sent nor will it produce any search results for
either book name or author.

if I click on the amazon help/contact us line, I get sent to a
customer/user forum where I read comments like, "this is an amazon
community forum, for help you should contact amazon"

I can accept that I might be  the only person on the planet with this
conundrum but I just can't get there.
the interesting part is that I used to "teach" computers back in the day
before function keys and could write programs in cobol. sigh.

you have any quick solutions- I don't want you to spend a lot of time on
this; I'm already a titch embarrassed at asking for your help
