Re: Presentation Surveys

Sheri:

I couldn't help overhearing.  We had the largest and strongest response on our forms this year than we have ever had!  There were four questions that had the attendees rating their responses on a 1 (poor) to 7 (excellent) basis.  Then there were another four long-answer questions that got a tremendous amount of discussion going throughout the hallways between sessions.

Since our conference was divided into five separate "focus" tracks, we assumed that if you were in a "Nursery Production" session you were interested in Nursery Production.  Similarly:  Garden Center, Landscape Contracting, Business Owners and Managers, and Back-to-Basics.  I think that next year we should ask one or two more questions about the person filling the survey out.  This year we didn't even ask people to sign their names.  That at least would help us greatly to define a split response in a mixed room.  But we all learn through our mistakes.

The other way that conferences gather a goodly number of responses is by offering a prize with a drawing at the end of the session or the end of the day.  You might consider this if you don't get a good return.

Sheri ?

I just attended the PLNA Conference and they had surveys ? evaluation forms after each seminar.  You might want to ask Kirk Brown how successful this was.

Hello. Does anyone on the list have a survey that they give after a presentation that they would share? Or even tips for what might be included in one?

I have numerous presentations coming up and would like to continue to improve them. I think asking the listeners for their thoughts might be the best way to go.

Please email me at S*@exoticgardening.com

Thanks!

Sheri
