Having raised both horses and cattle I can't remember ever having a JB problem in the pastures. I suspect that this is because they would much rather be in turf grasses where the roots that they feed on are much more dense. It may also have to do with the varieties of grasses that are used in pastures which are quite different from those used for lawns.
