Another China trip

The trip we were on last November was soooo awesome, I'm going back with the
group this year. This time it will be for 16 days (10/31-11/16) and we're
taking a sleeper train down to Xi'an in southern China (gardens still in
bloom) as well as being in Beijing (not a lot growing this time of year except
roses in some very odd gardens). Price very close to last year...$3000
including taxes, visas, roundtrip airfare (13 hours non-stop....that means 5 movies
and 4 "meals" if that's what you want to call them. Hotel is absolutely
wonderful...breakfast each morning is more like Sunday brunch here, lots of free
time to do your own thing (shopping.....ah....the shopping).....so much within
walking distance of the hotel: Forbidden City, Ti'anneman Square, wonderful
monasteries, art museums and more. People are wonderful, streets are
immaculate, very safe (soldiers everywhere though they look like boys), very
respectful of women, food very cheap (dumpling place down the street from the
hotel: 10 dumplings for $2). This is NOT a guided tour.....we have a couple days
where we're taken to sites via bus but if you're a true adventurer and want
to explore on your own, it's ideal. I'm checking out botanical gardens in
Xi'an (where the terra cotta soliders are) and there's at least one major one.
