Be careful what you wish for - think of the precedent you’re setting here…  If we give you back the “h” in herb, next thing you know heir and honor will demand the same thing.  And you know that from there it’s a short leap to pneumonia, knife and knock wanting their first letters back too.  Once the firsts get theirs, it’s only a matter of time before words like often and handkerchief want their silent letters back too. Where will it end?  With the words ending in a silent letter, such as climb and thumb, demanding their rights!  Chaos! (pronounce that "h"! :)
