Re: digital cameras

Why hello again Larry and -- evidently -- everybody!

-- so sorry, I sent the below (apologetic) note to you, Larry, *immediately*
after discovering my goofy mistake of hitting "reply" instead of "forward"
(I was forwarding Larry's post to a friend who also wants info) but perhaps
it was lost in Larry's spam filter! Naturally I did not mean "character"
badly (who wouldn't want to have character attributed to them?) and I would
never intentionally use naughty words on a public forum!!! Anyway, since I
got myself in this whole pickle here -- and since it's been a while since
we've discussed the latest photographic technology -- allow me to make my
inquiries for the benefit of myself and anyone else on the lovely list who
might be interested:

My Question:

I am considering investing in a digital camera so that I can accompany
magazine or newspaper articles with photos. I am reasonably confident about
aesthetic and composition matters but less confident in the technical issues
involved making the photos beautiful. I'm eager to learn techniques but
don't really want a digi camera that requires advanced training and
elaborate computer programs to fiddle with. Is there a camera under, say,
$1500-$2000, that can be used with some training to make high-quality images
for publication? Any guidance on matters like "pixels" and such would be
*greatly* appreciated!

Thanks in advance to any and all respondents!

Kate

Dear Larry,

I just discovered that I accidentally hit "reply" to a message I had
intended to simply forward to my friend... A private message in praise of
your 2003 post to the Garden Web forum... But unfortunately it went out to
everybody on the GWL! I am mortified. But hope that you don't mind being
called a "character" (I call everyone I don't know a "character"!). Please
accept my apologies for the cussing in the post (mere surprise on my part)
and I hope that you post more about digital photography! I could find
nothing more current and your posts are always enlightening.

Thanks, and again my apologies!

Sincerely,

--
Kate
