Re: Pinky Winky

I still hate the name, but then, we have an Achillea named 'Wonderful Wampee'. Is that better? I think so, but I can't claim impartiality.
That's a cute story about the breeder's kid. Stories are good. And the memorability factor is not to be dismissed lightly. And I'm glad it's a good plant. Nonetheless, I still find Pinky Winky stinky. Sorry.

The free trial Pinky Winkys (pl. ?Winkies) I received last year did great
in part sun under a high-limbed tree. I loved the contrasting red stems,
which add interest to a part of my garden that is otherwise very green
for most of the summer. The plants grew fast and strong and I look
forward to what look to be very interesting flowers. As for the name,
while I thought it was odd at first, you can't forget it. It is certainly
a great marketing tool.
