Re: Did anyone else get this dubious request?
Can everyone stand to hear one more opinion? I just got back from a trip
and read all of the posts on this topic at once.
I have had guest blogs, but they were all from people I know well: My
husband, my writing coach, and a good friend. I cross-post with Gardening
Gone Wild because it's fun and it helps us both build our audiences. I
meet a lot of people in the sustainability field, and I would probably
host any of them as a guest. The most likely scenario is that I would ask
them to write on something specific that I thought would interest my
readers.
But I actually KNOW all of these people and understand what they can
contribute to my blog. I might also ask one of you to write on a topic
you are more expert upon than I, such as Carlo on orchids. I am not
running a general-interest blog where I need "contributors." If you think
of your blog in terms of print media, would you be accepting unsolicited
manuscripts over the transom? Would doing so move the purpose of your
blog forward?
To each his/her own.
But, since we don't actually know Holly, how do we know that she's not
really doing a research psychology experiment on the paranoia of garden
writers? :-)
Regards,
Lois
