As did the Journal Register Company on Saturday. JRC is a conglomerate of 
the kinds of papers that have been my bread and butter for three decades --  
small town dailies and suburban weeklies. Maybe I'll have to take another 
look at this Internet thing. (I had my own web page a dozen years ago, back 
in the days when you did web pages by writing HTML code.)

With the several newspaper chains that have gone belly up over the last few 
months, it seems that the biggest problem is not so much operations 
(admittedly tough right now, but survivable) but debt service. There has 
been a buying spree over the last few years with many improvident 
acquisitions. I suspect that with Chapter 11 reconstruction most will 
continue publishing with little change.
