I bought a used (via Ebay) Epson EMP S-5 about 2 years ago and I love it.  It's light and works great with plenty of power and light for a good sized room plus the set up is simple.  Would recommend it highly.  

Aside from the technical issues about which I can't comment, if you buy a used one, make sure you find out how many hours have been used on the current lamp since that's the whole expense of the unit. Remote control, if the unit doesn't have one can be handled with a wireless mouse from your laptop which has obvious other capabilities as well.
