Re: Question on Book Prospectus

Gene,
If the book hasn't gone out to these reviewers yet, why don't you send them a note along the lines of, "I just want to alert you that xyz publisher might be sending you a copy of my book prospectus. They are not looking for a quote for the jacket just yet, although anything you say that would sound good in print is surely welcome. Right now they're deciding if the book will go to press or not, so I would greatly appreciate all favorable comments to be passed on to them quickly. If you have any questions about the book or this process, please contact me."

This would make the process more personal and give them an idea of the importance of their comments. You might even mention at the start that you gave the publisher his/her name because you've admired his/her work in the past and thought that the books have a certain sympatico.

all the best,
C.L.
