Metadata (data about data) for photographs has been standardized by  
IPTC (International Press Telecommunications Council).  All camera  
manufactures and all camera software use the data fields (caption  
copyright, keywords, location, etc).  You can embed text metadata into  
any digital photograph by opening the photo in your camera software.   
In PhotoShop it is under "File Info".  Many photo programs make it  
fairly easy to batch process groups of images with your own default  
copyright and contact info so the text permanently follows the photo.
