Re: Philly Flower Show question
Andrew,
I have been going to the show for 24 years and have attended the press
preview but my visit to the show is always on Tuesday.
The press preview is limited in time with a presentation from PHS then
you can go out to the floor for a little while. It is a nice time however
many of the exhibits are not complete and they will actually be building some
of them. That includes many that have fresh flowers. Most of the major
landscape exhibits will either be completed or almost complete. My suggestion
is to go to the press preview to get as many photos as you need. If you
need more, you can be there EARLY Saturday morning to get what you didn't the
night before and then get out. I suggest you ask for an exhibitors guide
from PHS which gives you the criteria for the exhibits. It's not the one you
get at the door so you would have to ask ahead of time. My advice if you go
on Saturday is there is always ton of people who linger at the entrance
and most head to the landscape displays that are center and to the right. Go
in the door and make a left, heading towards the juried exhibits, floral
exhibits, niches and other displays.

Many people die with their music still in them. Why is this so? Too often
it is because they are always getting ready to live. Before they know it,
time runs out. Oliver Wendell Holmes

The show opens Friday for the press. I have a Sunday deadline as my
column appears Mondays online though not until Thursday in print.
How much do I miss if I go to the Friday press preview as opposed to
trying to get there early on Saturday morning? When are you going?
