PowerPoint projector

I'm going to use Kate Bryant's question as a lead-in to a question
I've been wanting to ask this group for some time. I don't give
enough talks for it to make economic sense to buy a projector. I've
always relied on the host organizations to provide a projector.
(Often it's the local library's equipment.) On about 3 occasions
through the years, the projector provided has produced an image that
is dim and strongly green. No amount of fiddling with color balance
or brightness or any other setting improves the image significantly.
It doesn't seem to be older or inexpensive projectors that do this. I
have no idea what the cause is. Anyone have any idea?
