Re: Philly Flower Show
I've been catching up on a lot of emails after coming home from the road. I
believe that some of the comments made about access to the Philadelphia Flower
Show are not correct. The dates have changed and public access is undergoing a
major earth shift.
If you are planning on coming to the Philadelphia Flower Show, you need to
understand that there are major changes in the historic exhibition hours.
Judging has traditionally been done on Saturday morning with the show open to
press and PHS members on Saturday afternoon.
This year, the judging will be done on Friday morning. This is an enormous
change. There will not be a "Members Only" opening nor an official press
preview. The show floor will be open to the general public on Friday afternoon
and all day on Saturday. This is something that you will have to acknowledge if
you wish to avoid the gardening hordes.
Pre-opening, special access to the show floor will be available on any day for a
price. Or with your certified credentials.
Writers with credentials can access the construction-in-process on Thursday
night. You should contact PHS for details.
For GWA members, there is always a sign-in sheet at the press tent. If you want
to do a meet-up on any given day, you should note who has signed in and make a
digital connection. The weekends are prime time. But Melinda Meyers and Tovah
Martin are on the schedule during the week. Tickets are always available by
contacting the marketing office of PHS.
