Impatiens downy mildrew

Just got word that the Philadelphia Inquirer and some Deleware papers will
be carrying a piece on IDM in Sundays edition.

Also finding that many of the wholesale growers that I've queried are not
growing it this year.

The problem has apparently been present in the UK since 2003 where it's
reported to be a substantial problem some years and not others.

US researchers are so far stumped as to how to handle the problem.

Still digging into this and hope to do a column long before any of my
readers will try to buy them...but obviously the bigger problem is in offering
them alternatives. Someone suggested coleus and there are some spectacular
varieties offering incredible foliage colors but not sure they will
tolerate as much shade unless they're continually pinched.
