Re: [GWL]: Timber Press
As an indexer specializing in gardening, horticulture, and botany, I
contacted Timber Press about seven years ago, seeking to add the Press to my
client list. I was told at that time that each individual author is
responsible for his or her index, i.e., must find and pay the indexer. At the
time I contacted them they were not even keeping a list of recommended
indexers; unless this policy has changed, their authors are left entirely on
their own vis-a-vis the index.
This is contrary to the policy of all of the other publishers I've worked
with which assume full responsibility for the indexes, i.e., finding
competent indexers, editing indexes, and paying indexers.
