Several come to mind and I'd make the comment that with the trend towards
smaller gardens this may be a good place to concentrate edible gardeing
efforts. Sweet fennel, often marketed in grocery stores as anise,
cardoon....not trendy here but popular in Italy, articokes, corn salad
"maches", arugula, Asian radishes described as rose-fleshed or red meat also
often called watermelon radishes, Alpine strawberries, snap peas are still
very expensive and scarce in our markets, Charantais type melons, leeks,
cucumbers that are not the ubiquitous American slicer type, homegrown salad
mixes, Blueberries, Genovese basil, lime basil, lemon basil, edible flowers,
flavor saturated tomatoes....I could go on but must use a little restraint.
