Athletic fields and golf course greens are both rolled. Mind you, the soil
base is much sandier than normal soil and is engineered to take this kind
of abuse.
On golf course greens, maintenance is also much higher with regular
aeration, fertilizing and of course spraying to control the inevitable
fungal problems. The USGA provides the soil engineering specs for golf
greens (what soil??) :-) for this high intensity turf abuse.. er growing
situation. :-)
Sort of reminds me of that warning you see on tv - please do not try this
at home. :-)
