Re: Ten most useful garden books
I asked the librarians to list ten (and only ten!) "basic" "must-have" "indispensable" "invaluable" books to them. Presumbaly these are books they can not be "without". Most said limiting it to ten only was impossible, but they completed the exercise.
You'll notice that some books are more detailed than others (Dictionary of Art vs. Oxford Companion to Gardens, for example). The fact that both appear on the merged lists reflects differences in the levels of users that libraries serve. The library that listed AHS Pests and Diseases did not also list Insects that Feed on Trees and Shrubs or Diseases of Trees and Shrubs.
