Re: miccorhizae

how would a common gardener find and use mycorrhizae.

Hi Jacqui,
Sort of sticking my nose into your question for Doreen, hope you don't mind.

Our garden centres sell a product called Myke. I don't think that's available in the States yet.
I do know that Pro-Mix sells a product called Pro-Mix Vegetable and Flower Garden Mix.
The product is beginning to become more available in the nurseries and garden centres.

One of our competitors, a grocery store that creates the asphalt nursery every spring ( and they do a very good job with it) prominently displays Myke and sells a lot of it. The customers see it while standing in the checkout line and ask about it. If not, the cashier asks them if they have tried it. It has been available there for about three years. Word of mouth is now the primary seller.
One other source of information are websites, for example www.icangarden.com has a section where you can find all sorts of info, video, etc. about Myke. Included in this will be non-scientific anecdotal volunteered testimonial that us more common gardeners sometime rely on more than scientific data. Again, word of mouth sells product big time.

In our area, Myke is easily available at nurseries, box stores and asphalt garden centres. The trick is to get gardeners asking about it. Marketing campaigns and endcap displays should take of that aspect.  After that, it is an easy sell.

As for using it, instructions are on the container.
