I dunno...  Film isn't so cheap either!  I spend $15/roll for film and
developing, and then I have to spend time scanning them all on top of
that.  A ten-roll day-trip costs $150.  My wallet hurts just thinking 
about it.  :)

There's also the added benefit of backups.  Slides are fragile and can
fade, be affected by dust, moisture, etc.  But with digital, you can
store DVDs in a safe deposit box and always have a backup as good as the
original.

The only thing keeping me from going digital is that digital still doesn't
compare with film in terms of quality.  It's getting there, but a slide
still holds a lot more data!
