RE: Going digital - projectors

Title: Re: [GWL] Going digital - projectors

I agree with Nan we can all learn to use projectors and computers. This is the way of the future. I would never dream of driving a vehicle without knowing a bit about it both electrically and mechanically. It is just wise to know about whatever equipment you are using. Calling a mechanic is fine but what happens when you are stuck in the middle of no where and there is no one to call? I guarantee you if it was something fairly simple I would be fixing it myself.

The same applies for computers. What happens when it is 2 a.m. and you have no one to call and are on a deadline? You better be able to fix it yourself.

I have a computer technician (my boyfriend) but you better believe before him I did my own computer work, put in new hard drives, memory, etc. and did programming. I design the largest majority of my website myself. He adds the “special touches” that I can’t seem to get right. I do my own PowerPoint shows. Yes, he goes along just in case but there have been times he has not been there so I have to know what to do.

It just makes sense to know this stuff. I agree slides are a thing of the past and maybe some day soon 35 mm cameras will be gone. Almost every newspaper has converted from 35 mm to digital and many magazines have already made the move. The best way to learn is to jump in and do it.
