Goldsmith, Fischer bid Flower Fields adieu
As of April 1, Goldsmith Seeds and Fischer USA will no longer be formal members of the Flower Fields Alliance. Paul Ecke Ranch and Yoder Bros. will continue to provide the Flower Fields brand program, including tags and pots. Tom Doak of Yoder, chairman of the alliance, said the 4 companies will reduce emphasis on retail brand development and will shift focus to business-to-business efforts. The companies will not offer the P. Allen Smith Garden Home Collection as a retail program this year. A primary effort of all the companies will be to develop new and improved varieties. Fischer will continue to focus on products marketed under its Goldfisch label grower program. The 4 companies plan to have a combined spring trial this year at Goldsmith's Gilroy, Calif., facility.
