I didn't understand that there was not a single gene, so you are correct 
about the oversimplification. But, do we know that the switch mechanisms 
can not be transmitted from one plant to another? --I should take the 
time to follow the link you sent, and I will later, but not right now.

I'm sure I can't find my references re the transfer of genetic 
material--it was quite a few years ago. However, it came from reputable 
people.

I will follow your link after I finish something.
