Re: California Pack Trials

Lorraine -- John Steinbeck hung out in the Salinas/Monterey area and 
there are a few museums devoted to his works. John Friel is right 
about Monterey. It is beautiful. There's an aquarium in Monterey and 
some recognition of Doc Rickett's research (not to mention a comedy 
club by that name). In Salinas, there's a community park where 
Japanese Americans were interred during World War II. The park has a 
Claes Oldenberg sculpture that honors the rodeo next door with three 
cowboy hats crafted to look like they are being thrown in the air. 
Very nice. The area is well worth a visit aside from those great 
Goldsmith people. I suggest you contact the growers' media people to 
let them know you'll be coming to the Pack Trials. Have a great time.

>stranded in the Salinas area, the Penny Farthing pub has good food. Make  time
