Hi Richard,
Kansas city has a good art museum (Nelson Gallery of Art), an  
interesting Spanish-style shopping center called  The Plaza that
is at least 50 years old-- very charming--  and outside of town, the  
Powell Gardens, which are fairly new. KC has the best designed  
airport in the country--perhaps the world. Each terminal is circular  
and there are no long concourses. You check in and your plane comes  
to the gate about 50 feet away. When you get off your plane,  the  
baggage carousel is right nearby as well. The only drawback is if you  
have to change to an airline that's in another terminal. That  
requires hopping on one of the ever-circulating shuttle buses.  
Airport is in the country north of KC. However, the food service  
tends to be fast food.
