Re future of publishing
Thanks for your thoughtful response, Doug. When I ask about a new paradigm
for writers and how lots of people can make a living, I speak of all our
business models, not just the Big Magazine example that I work at right now.
We fit a certain niche, and it is broad but not at all deep. Other people
like yourself, can go deeper, but less broad. I agree that creating content
that is delivered through different channels is a very good approach. My
concern about going that way takes a lot more legwork?as I¹m sure you can
attest to?for a lower economic return. I was an entrepreneurial freelancer
before I got here, and I¹m sure I will be again. Just not sure I can make
the same living as I was able to in the past.
We¹re creative people here, so I¹m sure we¹ll all find ways to reach minds
and gardens. I think Daniel Pink got a lot of things right when he wrote
about the future belonging to right-brained thinkers!
