Re: where is the blog site on Gardenweb

Carlo - why offlist? Because I'm thinking of this as a future-business
venture. Plainly and simply put. :-) And I do believe in sharing and
working out details with partners - folks who are sharing and taking the
risks with me.
As you know, I'm a contrarian when it comes to the Net and instead of saying
that X won't happen because of Y or because it's always that way, I prefer
to find the reasons why it can happen. Instead of focussing on the
why-not's - I prefer to look at the how-to's. :-) And as you know, I make
an increasingly comfortable living with those beliefs.

My problem is not in trying to describe the paradigm shift but more
importantly how to help others see that shift - to understand the old rules
don't necessarily work anymore - and that we largely invent our own rules
and future roles now. I hate to go back that far but "you're either on or
off the bus". (60's alert!) :-)

I believe there's a role for edited Net content in the future. How far in
the future I don't know. (shrug shoulders) :-) I've already worked out two
or three possible monetization models for this but have no idea if they'll
work (shrug shoulders) :-) And to make things ever scarier, I'm pretty sure
what I'm thinking is only stage 1 of what we can do with this notion and how
we can tie a lot of information together out there. There's a ton of
i-dunno's in this work and possibly a dead-end as well. The folks that
sign on can be assured that there's no money for the work for some time -
until we get it up and rolling. But if nothing else, it will be a learning
process in new media for us all.

So - bottom line. I'm looking for some partners who want to work together
to put some form of edited content aggregation on the Net - all the details
will be discussed and negotiated by those folks. As I said, there's
absolutely no guarantee that this will make anybody any money - you'd be
better off, at least in the immediate future, financially getting one query
accepted. I can handle the backend but I need folks for all other parts of
the concept.

Garden Voices may come back - or ?? But we may do that or we may push
beyond that - ?

I'm still putting it together in my own mind and will discuss it (again
offlist) with folks who have a mind to join.

All the best

Doug
