Careful how you advertise

Basically, Amazon contested having to pay sales tax for sales in New York
since they don't maintain offices or advertise in New York state.

The state contended that the Amazon click-through/affiliate program amounts
to solicitation, so Amazon needed to pay sales tax.  

Amazon's case was tossed out of court on Tuesday by a New York Supreme
Court justice.  A similar case by Overstock.com was also tossed out.

If you encourage people to buy your books on Amazon to avoid sales tax, 
those days may be numbered.
