Online viral marketing

On the topics of the White House garden and viral connections, here's an
interesting story.  It took us SIX MONTHS to collect 10,000 signatures on
the White House Victory Garden petition posted to our website and SIX DAYS
to collect the same amount on Facebook.  We're now at nearly 16,000:

I am amazed at what happens a little internet viral connections.  Did  
this list know there is a voting process underway to pick a White  
House farmer ?

I posted a long blog entry to Gardening Gone Wild about the  
Ecological Farming Conference http://www.gardeninggonewild.com, and  
now out of the woodwork I get folks telling me about the voting for  
next White House Farmer.  http://whitehousefarmer.com/

Voting is now underway and there are candidates from every State.   
The top 3 vote getters on Jan 31 will be submitted to the president.   
It may not actually happen, but the process of selecting is in place.

I am voting for Shep Ogden who a lot us here know from Garden Writers  
and I know well enough personally to know would do a good job.  There  
are other imminently qualified candidates (many of whom would be too  
busy to actually take the job).
