Thanks for your very thoughtful replies on this topic. You say that when judging a blog that is submitted for writing, only the writing is considered just as it is when a magazine article is entered in the writing category. I think that the point of many people here, however, is that blogs shouldn't be considered just for either writing or photography... blogs that combine writing and original photography should have a category all their own - that a blog is the sum total of all on it, photography, links, charts, grafts, video, etc, and it should be judged as a whole. New way of thinking required here.
I know that there are more people who speak in GWA than there are radio hosts - our membership survey showed that. It's likely that a speaking category would take a few years to get off the ground, however. As I said before, the advantage to including speaking is that it encourages more of our members to think about improving their presentations, as well as encouraging them to have a professional video done that will benefit them in other ways.
