Re: no handouts at GWA talks
GWA did not pass out paper handouts at the seminars at the annual meeting in
Indiana this year, as they used to, although individual speakers may have
provided their own, or at least that was my impression. In earlier years I
would pick up a few handouts from concurrent sessions.
It is a very nice member benefit now that handouts are available on the GWA
website.
Naturally many paper handouts go to waste, but some are saved. I have some
gems from previous years. Unused ones are compostable, of course. Handouts
are something like advertising. If a business knew in advance which
particular ones were going to work they would not bother spending money on
the others.
When I spoke on publishing at the regional meeting in Boston last February
at New England Grows I printed handouts at home and brought them along. That
was a smaller crowd than that at an annual meeting. Surely my honorary
sister, Mary Kate Mackey, will have a terrific paper handout and worksheet
for her workshop at this year's GWA regional event in Boston.
Happy New Year, everyone!
