"Universal" Lavaliere Microphone

To My All-Knowing GWA Buddies:

Is there such a thing as a "Universal" Lavaliere Microphone?

I have another "season" of talks coming up and invariably the only microphone is a hand-held one. Hard of hearing audience members appreciate the mike and my preference is always for a lavaliere device which is rarely available. I would love to be able to plug my own mike into an AV unit the way I use my own remote to advance my slides. Of course, that's via a USB which plugs into my laptop.

Any wisdom and experience with this be appreciated, as always.
