[GWL]: Who will we write for?

This tread of 'who will we write for' was very much on my mind in 1994.
This is what I decided:
1. I will write a Flower Story Book for Children.
2. The purpose of the book is help children become aware of familiar
flower plants. I wrote and self-published "Listen to the Flowers:" Ten
Flower Stories for Children.
3. Because the craze is entertainment, I will do dramatized
presentations from the stories in this book, using real plants,
costumes, songs, questions, interactive things.
4. I was successful in doing these programs at the US Botanic Garden,
many schools and childrens' centers..even Senior Centers. I have glowing
letters from these places. I wanted to do my program at Libraries, but
all I heard was, "There is no money".  I charge the great fee of $35.00
for a 40 minute program. And after the program, hope to sign and sell
books-$4.00
5. I got the idea to do this program at a new Lowe's Store, in the
area.  I knew someone who worked in the Garden Shop.  Spring a year ago
at the Lowes, I did the 'Victoria Violet',' Flowering Dogwood' and'
Lydia Lilac' program.  We start the program by singing the PANSY
Song..."there is a flower with a name and PANSY is its name Yes!
P-A-N-SY....etc. Nice program
6. I was invited back to do the Summer Program, 'Gerald Geranium',
'Maria Marigold' and 'Peggy Petunia'.
7. I had suggested that Lowes have a flyer with a suggested Children's
Garden Design. using the 3 flowers.  Hopefully after the program, the
people attending would purchase the flower plants at Lowes and go home
and establish a garden for their children. Hey..isn't this developing
the next generation of Gardeners??
8. I was so disappointed that Lowes did not have a hand-out Children's
Garden Design and didn't even encourage the people attending to
purchase, Geraniums, Marigolds or Petunias.
9. Groan.. what am I doing wrong.
