Re: digital cameras
Hello:
I was a Nikon fanatic (Chicago Nikon school, etc.) as well until one trip I
took 27 rolls of film only to find out that my batteries were bad. I went
to digital that week and have never regretted it. The blues are really
blue now (instead of lavender), the graininess is gone and often times the
editors really like the entire package on disc (copy, cut lines, images) --
it seems to be easier for them. My images appeared in more than 25
magazines and newspapers last year. I now have a Olympus E-10 and it is
great. I have been invited to give a presentation at the Perennial Plant
Association meeting in Sacramento on digital photography later this month
and as a result have prepared a PowerPoint presentation. If you like I can
send you a copy FYI. It's pretty basic stuff but it may be of interest to
you. Later you can call me via land line to discuss further.

As a writer/photographer faced with publications I contribute to moving
over to using digital submissions (perish the thought!!), I'm just
interested if there are any members happy with digital
cameras they might be using. And what they might be. I'm a committed 35mm
Nikon/medium format Mamiya user with Velvia my preferred film and am
despairing of having to supply the sort of flat looking
digital shots that I see in so many other publications that have gone this
way. The reason of course is economics (digital is so much cheaper in the
longer term) ... and quality is the poorer. Any
thoughts appreciated.
