AHSC Conference

Well boys and girls, it's time to start making travel plans.

The Appalachian Heirloom Seed Conservancy's annual Fall Conference is slated
for October 6-8 in Berea, Kentucky. In just a few short years this have
become one of the pre-eminent heirlooms-oriented events.

One highlight is the formal seed swaps held each day. Last year something
like 140 heirloom tomato varieties changed hands; along with beans, greens,
corn, okra, you name it.

There's an exciting line-up of speakers to fill the days, on topics ranging
from heirloom corns to heirloom fruits. There will be a special
market-growers round-table, to which everyone is invited. And tours of the Sustainable
Mountain Agriculture Center, which is hosting the conference.

And, of course, there's the ever popular Saturday night cook-out.

As with all AHSC events, non-members are welcome.

So start planning now on attending. For complete details about the
conference, or for membership information, contact Appalachian Heirloom Seed
Conservancy at _KentuckySeeds@hotmail.com_ (K*@hotmail.com)

Note to writers & editors: All fees are waived for working press. But we'd
like to know in advance if you plan on attending.

Staff members of both AHSC and SMAC will be available for interviews at the
conference. Or contact me if you're interested in doing stories ahead of
time.

Looking forward to hearing from you.
