Web Page Stickiness
I talked with a fellow listserv member about ten days ago about attracting and retaining visitors to a website. He said that the home page should be "sticky," with elements such as flash presentation or music to keep hoppers from leaving. That made perfect sense to me.....until I started putting together a new website.
My thoughts are these. Flash and music are memory intensive and take time to download, especially for dial-up and broadband users with less than optimal connections. And, there are many of those, especially in rural areas. Wouldn't this turn off a potential site viewer and cause them to stop the download?
What have all of you with successful website done to attract hits and retain the visitor?
