Betty Mackey's observation that there are few Japanese beetles this  
year was most interesting, because I'd noted the same thing  
recently.  Practically no JBs or rose chafers this year in NW  
Connecticut.  I contacted CT Coop Ext. about this but haven't gotten  
an answer yet.  If anyone comes across any Coop Ext. bulletins or  
other factual information about the effect of meteorological  
phenomena on insect populations this year, or any other proposed  
reasons for the dearth of beetles/moths this year, please post a link  
to it.  Thanks for the confirmation of my own observations--I'd  
started to wonder if it was just me!
