Re: Japanese beetles
I always found that Japanese beetles are not early risers. Neither am I, but I used to go out about 7:30 after an early-morning swim (yes, this was when I was back on Long Island) and gently shake them out of the roses (where they were still snoozing or having an early canoodle) into a zip lock plastic bag. Once I was done, I'd set the bag in the sun to let them steam. Don't set PETA on me - that's my only act of animal (but they're not technically animals) cruelty besides squishing snails and slugs. A bonus to having neighbors with chickens- they love the slimy critters.
Cheers,
Cathy
