Clarification

Hi Ms. Jo Ellen,

Thanks for the info. As for my last sentence, "Why couldn't paid membership
count as donations for
such things as what's being given away at the Annual Awards Banquet?" What I
should have said was why couldn't part of our membership dues be counted as
a donation towards a surprise gift drawing for members only every now and
then?

And while we're on the subject of funds; is there an annual report members
have access to that shows how much money GWA has access to? Is this
classified information to board members only or should I be emailing a
specific GWA director?

I apologize to all list members if this is not the proper place to discuss
this subject I'm always asking why and I'm curious to know about my
organization's finances because I contribute via membership dues.

GWA is not hurting for cash.

For the past several years, GWA Foundation has sponsored a drawing
for large items, such as computers and cameras. These products are
donated.

We received a similar mailing last year before the symposium. Raffle
tickets are available throughout the symposium, with the items given
away as the awards dinner.

The money raised from the raffle goes to the GWA Foundation, which in
turn supports PAR, Garden Trends research, scholarships and other
kinds of activities.

I'm not sure I understand what your last sentence means. Our
membership fees support the organization's operations.
