Re: bamboozled by bamboo
Move. Seriously.
I've been battling a lesser bamboo for more almost 2 decades, and I didn't
even plant it. It rooted out of a pot set on the ground, and it wasn't even
supposed to be hardy here.
I've paid young men hundreds of dollars for several years running to remove
every last bit with a pick or mattock. I've dug it myself. I even resorted
to using Glyphosate (gasp) a few times and all it did was to cause it to
come up twisted the following year.
I've seen yellow groove come up in an asphalt driveway (no cracks) and 15'
away from a planting into a stone fireplace - came through the area between
the firebox and the hearth in an old house.
Supposedly, you can keep clipping it until it uses up its resources, but I
don't know anyone who has been that persistent. All it takes is for a little
bit of photosynthesis and carb storage and it's off and running.

Any suggestions on how to eradicate yellow groove running bamboo once it's
infiltrated a shrub border?
