Coke also works well in cleaning up contact points in things like portable radios, tape recorders, etc. in which the batteries have been left too long and have corroded. I've used both Coke and ketchup -- both worked beautifully.  (I no longer leave batteries in equipment, however. Doing this type of clean-up a couple of times is enough!)
