Re: Seeking sources re. seeding native vegetables

Please don't be offended at this simplistic reply, but sometimes researchers overlook the obvious. Have you checked Native Seeds/SEARCH? They're online at www.nativeseeds.org . They have many varieties of beans, corn, squash and chiles that may or may not be indigenous to the Southwest. I don't know whether Proboscidea are native, but I'd guess they are. Amaranth, sunflowers ant tomatillo probably are native too. They also sell "Food Plants of the Sonoran Desert" for $75.

Hi all,

I'm looking for sources regarding seeding native vegetables for an upcoming issue of Native Plants Magazine. It is for my quarterly column--For Every Season. I already have information from one GWA member, who grows Native American vegetables. Any other sources/replies would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Julie Bawden Davis
