catepillers
Are you aware of the invasion of the catepillars in the Northeast? When you
look up at the Catskill Mountains, some of them have great brown patches
where the damn bugs have eaten all the leaves from the trees. There are a
few green trees scattered here and there on the hills - but the predominant
color is brown. So sad.
In my garden in Woodstock, New York they are crawling everywhere - even onto
the doorstep. Last night I pulled one from my hair when I came in from the
garden. The are not the wooly kind - they look like the kind that make
tents - they are about 1 1/2 inches long and skinny.
I am told the government hs released a special black fly that is supposed to
eat the critters. Hope it is so.
I am spraying in my garden with all the bad stuff - Sevin and Bonide's
Bacillus Thuringiensis and keeping my fingers crossed. Anyone have any
other suggestions.
