Re: TM vs USPP#

Jems -

You know what the magazines want when it comes to verbiage better than I,
but someone asked how it should be cited and that is how we would prefer. If
the Latin name can not be used then we would prefer that the trademarked or
registered name be used with the genus or common name then the cultivar. The
trademarked or registered name is how the plant will be promoted when it
comes to Proven Winners ColorChoice varieties.

It seems that it varies from magazine to magazine and certain writers
preferences are different then another. To cause less consumer confusion, it
seems that this type of thing should be standardized because the last thing
we need to do is confuse the customer about is the name of the plant...they
are already intimidated about gardening in general.

I forgot to mention that this is only when referring to the scientific name.
When referring to the common name, I always use the trademarked name, i.e.

   Golden Spirit [TM] Smokebush
   Blue Velvet [TM] St. Johnswort
