Re: PPA in PA
Kathy,
Come on up. I think I can claim to be a regular PPA attendee: Haven't missed one since 1988.
PPA goes on for a full week with pre-Symposium and post-Symposium tours, but the core is Tues-Wed-Thurs, July 22-24. Tuesday: Seminars & trade show. Wed: Major bus tour. Thurs: Seminars & trade show, including the ever-popular New Plant Forum. For details: http://perennialplant.org/resourcefiles/symposiumprogram.pdf
Which part would be best depends entirely on your own experiences, needs and interests. If you've already been backstage at Longwood, Chanticleer, Scott Arboretum and Conard-Pyle, maybe you don't need that core Wed. tour. Some of the private gardens may be of more interest. If you just want to sit in on the New Plants Forum for a sneak peek at what's next from breeders and plant finders, you can attend that event for $50; but it seems imbalanced to come all the way to Philly to spend just a couple of hours in a lecture hall.
Contact me off-list if you like for more info. Hope to see you in Philadelphia.

Subject: [GWL] PPA in PA
Hi all!
I'm debating whether or note to attend the annual PPA mtg in PA this July.
And if I can only attend one day or a portion - which part would be best? For
me it is not so much the fees involved as it is the time away from the office
since I'm already planning on GWA in Portland and other short regional trips.
Anyone a regular PPA attendee and can give some guidance?
Sincerely,
Kathy Jentz

Years ago when this was a $20 billion/year industry I learned that lawns and
their care comprised about $17 billion. This includes golf courses I think.
It
is such a depressing statistic I have not kept up with it but I think you
can
find numbers with the lawn care industry rather than horticulture sources.
